Canada Super60 - Landmark Moment as New Cricket League Lands BC Place Stadium
Canada’s new league, the Super 60 has secured its new home in the iconic BC Place stadium marking a historic milestone for the league. The BC Place stadium is a one of Canada’s state-of-the-art stadiums and is now acting as a launchpad for the Super60, labelled as it's official venue. BC Place has been home to some major global events, such as the FIFA Women’s World Cup 2015, the Vancouver 2010 and Paralympic Winter Games. With some games from the upcoming FIFA World Cup 2026 being played there, it is an impressive coup for the Super 60.
The Canada Super60 is the first global-format cricket league to feature both men’s and women’s 10 over-a-side tournaments from its beginning, this year. It aims to create a blueprint for cricket’s growth in the nation.
President of Cricket Canada Amjad Bajwa said “We wholeheartedly congratulate the Super60 team on making this possible. This partnership is a clear signal of our commitment to expanding cricket across the country and creating world-class opportunities for Canadian players, especially as we look ahead to the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup in 2026.
Chris May, General Manager at BC Place said “Hosting the Canada Super60 is a tremendous opportunity to showcase the world’s second most-watched sport right here in our beautiful city. As a multi-sport and multi-purpose venue, we are always looking for new and dynamic events that reflect the diversity of our province. This is a meaningful step towards creating a more inclusive and representative sports landscape in British Columbia.” With cricket being one of the fastest growing sports in North America, Canada has a lot to look forward to if you’re a cricket fan.
