Canada Super60 Men's Roundup - Who took the glory?

Canada Super60 Men's Roundup - Who took the glory?

Just like that, Canada Super60 is over. Six days of whirlwind cricket T10 action! Canada Super60 turned out to be a resounding success in Canada's first venture in creating a domestic cricket tournament.

The tournament started out on Thursday evening with a thrilling contest between Brampton Blitz and Toronto Sixers. The former came out on top winning with just three balls to go, chasing 136.

The points table ended up being fairly even, with the top four teams that progressed all finishing on 6 points each, 3 wins 2 losses. This left White Rock Warriors and Toronto Sixers eliminated on 4 and 2 points respectively.

Progressing into the playoffs, the two semi finals were as follows:

Montreal Royal Tigers v Vancouver Kings

Mississauga Masters v Brampton Blitz

Interestingly, when the Kings and Tigers played each other the first time round, Kings set a mega score of 206, with three players getting an incredible SR of over 250! Understandably the Tigers struggled to get near that score and lost on that occasion. In the playoffs though the story couldn't have been more different, after setting a score of 100, Tigers bowled out Kings for just 76 and progressed to the grand final!

In the other semi final it was a high scoring contest with Mississauga setting a total of 148, a tough total for Brampton to chase but with Guptill and Smeed behind the bat they comfortably chased it, winning with 12 balls to go.

This set the final up well, Brampton Blitz v Montreal Royal Tigers.

Montreal Royal Tigers were to bat first, but they had to face the man who had taken the most wickets in the competition, Dilon Heyliger and in the end he would be their downfall. Taking four wickets and helping to dispatch the Tigers for just 69 runs. Blitz took to the field with confidence after they did so well with the ball, they chased the total in just over the total amount of overs to be played, 5.5. Brampton Blitz had done it, the first ever winners of the Canada Super 60. With Heyliger taking the most wickets in the tournament and Guptill making the 2nd highest runs, it's easy to see how they did it.

Congratulations to Brampton Blitz!
